CLIMB A VOLCANO: Overshadowing Granada is the imposing dormant Mombacho Volcano. Tours usually follow the 1.5k.m crater trail. The cloud forest at the top is beautiful as are the views on a clear day. Monkeys, sloths and other widlife can usually be seen. An excellent canopy tour/ zip line is close by.
GO BOATING ON THE LAKE: Formed by the last eruption of Mombacho, Las Isletas are a group of islands close to the Granada lake shore.

LOOK INTO THE MOUTH OF AN ACTIVE VOLCANO: Only 30 mins drive away Masaya makes an easy and interesting day trip. Apart from an active volcano , you can buy handbags and hammocks at the market, visit the nearby Laguna de Apoyo for a swim and buy pottery in San Juan de Oriente.
