Long dormant, this cone shadows the colonial city of Granada and is home to a cloud forest and two popular canopy tours are close by.
It's an easy half day trip from Granada.
The 3 different trails are:
El Cafetal Trail
Good bird spotting
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Level: Easy
El Cráter Trail
Excellent views.
- Duration: 1 and a half hours
- Level: medium
El Puma Trail
Best views, windy toward the end. Guide compulsory.
-Duration: 4 hours
-Level: for hikers in good physical condition.
Notes
The reserve is closed Monday and sometimes Tuesday and Wednesday if there are less than 10 visitors.
Entrance to the reserve is about US$9.
The truck uphill leaves at 8:30AM, 10AM, 1PM, and 3PM.
Bring cold weather clothing as the temperature combined with the winds is cold closer to the summit!
